Treatment
ms
Multiple Sclerosis
is considered an autoimmune disease or autoimmune disorder, where the
body
becomes confused in some way, where it attracts itself as if it is a
foreign invader, that the body that needs to defend itself against.
MS attacks the nerves through out the Central
Nervous system,
which can often result in scarring.
Sclerosis
means scarring. Scarring is seen in the majority of the cases
of
Multiple Sclerosis that are
being diagnosed each year.
The
number of cases of Multiple Sclerosis being diagnosed each year is on
the increase in more countries around the world. Many of the
countries where more cases of Multiple Sclerosis are appearing are
on the increase, at an alarming rate. Within the last 10 years,
Multiple Sclerosis is appearing in more countries, where there had been
no reported cases of Multiple Sclerosis.
Because
of the alarming rate of the increase of the frequency and severity of
the cases of Multiple Sclerosis that have been appearing withing the
last 10 years around the world, both MS
researchers and doctors alike, in more different countries around the
world,
are joining forces in an effort to speed up the process in curbing the
increase in the incident rate of Multiple Sclerosis.
The
2 main ways, that are typically used to diagnose Multiple
Sclerosis, include performing Magnetic Imaging Resonance tests
or MRI tests on the brain or the spinal cord, or performing a
spinal tap. A spinal tap is where a sample of spinal fluid is
taken from the spinal cord and the sample is analyzed for protein
markers that are
specific to Multiple Sclerosis.
More
ways of diagnosing Multiple Sclerosis are being developed to make the
process of diagnosing MS quicker and easier in the hopes that more
cases of MS can be diagnosed sooner, before the cases become more
advanced and possibly more devestating to its effects on the overall
health of the people diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
It appears
that if the overall world-wide medical community can find a way to
diagnose Multiple Sclerosis sooner, the hope is that more of those
diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis would get help sooner and hopefully
this can curb the severity and progression of MS attacking the body.
Because Multiple Sclerosis has
been becoming much more of a worldwide problem, and the fact
that
what helps to reduce the symptoms of one case of Multiple Sclerosis
may not help the next case of MS, more doctors are
turning to alternative medicine, complimentary medicine or
integrative medicine to find more ways to bring relief to the
symptoms that their MS patients have been experiencing.
Alternative
medicine, complimentary medicine or integrative medicine each
involve the
use of prescription drug treatments in combination with using
other ways to help their patients to find relief to their symptoms of
multiple sclerosis. These other ways can include all kinds of
alternative and/or natural ways to help reduce the symptoms of
more of
their MS patients that can be taylored more closely to what each MS
patient may need to help reduce their symptoms of MS more effectively.
Complimentary or alternative medicine often includes using prescription
drugs and adding using ways of reducing stress (like using yoga,
meditation, affirmations, visualization, guided imagery), changing the
ms diet, adding more nutritional supplements (vitamins, herbs and other
supplements), juicing or grinding whole foods to boost vitamin and
nutrient levels to reduce vitamin deficiencies, using
intense ms physical therapy, or other types of exercises (yoga, tai
chi, qi gong) to help improve how well our bodies can function
after we are diagnosed with MS. Other alternatives including
using FDA-approved medical devices that help to stimulate the brain and
the nerve endings through out the body to help stimulate the nerves to
function better, and using other alternative methods like biofeedback
and other brain exercises to retrain and exercise the brain to function
better again.
Although
the
overall medical community, previously used prescription
drugs as the main method of treatment ms patients were instructed
to use, other alternative and natural ways are being used more and more
to help MS patients find more relief to their MS symptoms and to help
the body start to recover as much as possible from the often devasting
effects of Multiple Sclerosis on their bodies.
As far as for my own case
of Multiple Sclerosis, I have taken a different approach than using
only prescription drug treatment methods to help me to find relief to
my symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis.
This is a direct result of what I went through during my
initial
experiences with battling with a severe case of Multiple Sclerosis.
Initially,
the doctors prescribed one of the injectable prescription drug
treatments for me to use for treating my ms symptoms. After a period of
time of using the injectable drug that I was told to use, I developed
severe side effects to this medication. After I was
instructed by
both the doctor that prescribed the drug treatment and by the
pharmaceutical company that manufactured the drug to stop using this
treatment protocol, I decided to hunt to see if I had any other options
for finding relief to my MS symptoms.
After a period of trial and error, I was able to find alternative and
natural ways that helped to reduce my symptoms of MS,
without giving me the nasty side effects that most often I experience
from many of the drug treatments that I have been given off and on,
since I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
Because
I had decided that for me, that I would not use drug treatments any
more than I had to for me to find relief to my MS symptoms, our web
site does not address these forms of MS treatments.
